Thrift Shop Manager Job Application

JOIN OUR TEAM!  The Mountain Post Thrift Shop, a program of the Mountain Post Spouses' Club, is a retail shop whose mission is to serve our Fort Carson and military communities through the sale of affordable goods.  Proceeds from the shop go back into the community via educational scholarships to military dependents, SFRG grants to Fort Carson units, and community grants to organizations that serve our military and Fort Carson/Greater Colorado Springs communities.  Be part of a great team while giving back to our community!

Hours and Benefits:

Position is full time, calculated at approximately 40 hours per week. Exact hours may vary, but must be available Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm AND the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month 9:30am - 2:30pm.  Extra hours available based upon need.

 

This is an salaried position, with salary starting at $34,000/year with opportunity for advancement and bonuses.

Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and direct customers

  • Respond to customer questions; handle customer issues, in conjunction with the manager

  • Provide outstanding customer service

  • Manage/process financial transactions - be knowledgeable of all features of the POS system

  • Manage and coordinate daily donation process (accepting donations, sorting, and pricing)

  • Assist with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise

  • Keep clientele informed of customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement strategies to attract customers, including deals and sales schedules

  • Manage the opening and closing of the register, and making weekly bank deposits

  • Be knowledgeable of all daily and monthly sales reports

  • Supervise and motivate staff to meet performance goals

  • Serve as part of the Mountain Post Spouses' Club Thrift Shop Advisory Board in developing strategic planning and coordinating operations that lead to the overall success of the thrift shop.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent customer service

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Dependable, reliable, and punctual

  • Drive to meet and exceed goals

  • Self-motivated

  • Must be able to lift 40lbs and stand continuously for up to 6 hours

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Retail experience preferred

  • Managerial/Leadership experience REQUIRED

Other Requirements:

  • Must have own access to Fort Carson

  • Must undergo and pass a background check at the Thrift Shop Expense

  • Spanish speaking a bonus, but not required
